What is non-destructive testing (NDT)?
Non-destructive testing (NDT), also known as non-destructive examination (NDE) or non-destructive inspection (NDI), is a set of techniques used to evaluate materials without damaging them. It’s the only method to see the current ‘health status’ of a tank using measurement techniques to pinpoint any damage and anomalies in the fuel stored inside.
The HSE recommends that non-destructive testing should be carried out every 12-18 months.
